Depicted here are US P-51D Mustangs over Europe in 1944. For decades I always wanted to paint historic military aircraft. I'm amazed how youngsters in their 20s have the brains and guts to fly these complex aircraft. I definitely would fly into the dirt. I also love how American's always need to ‘personalize’ everything they get their hands on.
I was inspired by a P-51 painting my Dad bought at a Mammoth Lakes art faire in 1977 by the artist Dan Witkoff. The piece hung in their family room ever since. That painting was instrumental in sparking my interest into machines that go Vroom and Boom!
